The card is not the whole decision
Prepare your residence card together with the decision and any work permit or other employment documents. The team needs to identify your legal basis and any restrictions. A labour-market-access annotation is not a substitute for reviewing the decision conditions.
A permit amendment may be needed
Where permission is linked to an employer or employment conditions, a separate amendment procedure may be required. Reporting duties following the end of previous employment must also be checked. Deadlines depend on the procedure, so communicate a planned move early.
Sequence matters
Confirm the previous contract end date, application status and proposed start date. Ask which legal basis allows employment with the new entity. A residence document that remains valid does not by itself settle the work question. Keep application copies, correspondence and acknowledgements.
Practical preparation checklist
- Prepare the full residence decision, not only a card photo.
- Provide the old job’s end date and intended new start.
- Explain whether proceedings are complete or still pending.
- Confirm the correct amendment route, notifications and documents.
- Keep submission confirmations and official correspondence.
Your card remains valid for several months and you receive an offer in another city. Share the decision and current employment details with the new team. Card validity alone does not establish whether you can start another job immediately. First confirm the employment basis and procedural sequence, then agree relocation and day one.
Questions & answers
Do I always need a new document?+
Not every status ties work to an employer. Relevant exemptions and your decision conditions must be checked.
