India through my eyes: meetings and recruitment in Rajasthan

Dawid Seifert’s personal account of travelling, meeting candidates and understanding their motivation.

Conversations matter most

During my stay in Rajasthan, India, I met candidates interested in working abroad. A direct conversation helps me understand their experience and expectations much better than paperwork alone. For me, this is an important part of responsible recruitment.

Experience and readiness for demanding work

Among the people I met were workers experienced in construction and practical trades. Many spoke of their readiness for demanding physical work, learning and developing new skills. Responsibility for family and the wish to improve living conditions were recurring themes.

Modesty and respect for work

I remember the modesty of many people I spoke to and the importance they placed on conscientious work. These are my personal observations about specific individuals. We assess each candidate individually by skills, experience and suitability for the role.

A journey that helps understand people

Local architecture also impressed me: the detail, craftsmanship and patience needed to create monumental buildings. It was an inspiring backdrop to professional meetings. I returned from Rajasthan convinced that these relationships are worth developing through clear terms, mutual respect and real employment opportunities. — Dawid Seifert
